Converting a 350SE auto to manual: anyone done this? Potentially have a box, but not all the rest (bell housing, clutch & brake pedals, master cylinder, etc., and also the centre console insert). Does the manual box have the same external dimensions as the auto, and is the joint with the tail shaft the same? Some will say 'why bother' (and I may not, especially as the auto works just fine). Also, I want to fit a cruise control: how hard is this to do? I like driving the 350SE more than a 280, but not as much as a 6.9.

Never seen it done. The transmissions and all of the associated parts are tough to come by. I imagine the auto is not the same length as the manual and so you'll probably be lengthening the driveshaft.

It will be a lot of work. Unless you're a very resourceful craftsman with welding, fitting and drivetrain removal it's going to be a headache.

However if you get it completed I am sure it will be well worth it.
