Wife found a '08 350 R with 150k that she wants to get to replace her honda odyssey that is falling apart at 300k, taking it to the mechanic monday to do a pre purchase inspection. From searching the forums and internet, i've made a list for him to check, trying to verify if i got everything "major" covered. I understand that the car is used, so there is maintenance to complete and probably bring current, I just dont want to drop another 5 k on critical failure repairs soon after purchasing. any assistance is appreciated

balance shaft / sprocket issue
speed sensor
crankshaft sensor
camshaft sensor
brake booster failure
rear cylinder head leaking (expansion plugs)
tailgate actuation response/ keyfob switch
suspension failure (100k)
flex discs (cracking)
power steering reservior (cracks)

Just remember there ain't no such thing as a cheap Mercedes.

At that mileage I would get the front suspension, MAFs and catalysts thoroughly checked out and if it's still on air springs haggle the price of a coil spring conversion off the price.
