Looks like that Garry VZ Guy was right in his last post about this car over at the PompousBoard.

Wilson was right too. $50K was not to be.

Maybe you guys busily claying and buffing out your SEC paint in your garages can knock off now. The market isn’t as strong as everyone thought.

I think it shows a very strong market. Despite all the hype, the car is just a very low mileage barn find. Poorly prepared for the sale as many have noted. From a bad headliner to no real restoration of rubber or hoses and other items which a collector will have to attend to. Add the $2000 BaT fee and transport and you have a $50k+ car. Despite all the butt hurt, I think the commentary was actually pretty gentle for a car with more than a few questions. I still can't believe the headliner wasn't fixed. That was like listing it with a flat tire.

But I'd rather replace a tire vs doing a frick'n headliner anyday.

Bottom line, it's a nice car and seller was not an expert in selling 126's. His first attempt at selling was an ad for $45k on cl, in an apartment parking lot( I think it's the same car). Then BAT with less than perfect pictures. He improved them and here we are. So in the end he got what he expected/wanted and someone with deep(er than I have) pockets got what they wanted. Moooving on.....

Loved the “Jimmyp56” shill that came in at the last minute and gushed about the car. Nice try, but it didn’t help.

Better yet was a private message I got, accusing me of being in cahoots with the seller to generate “sympathy bids”. Damn! Busted! Now where do I pick up my check?

This is getting better than the Kennedy assassination, Area 51, Roswell, etc.....

There are a lot more nutcases out there than I ever imagined!

The BaT comments are great when someone is listing a classic american land yacht, wonderful stories of young memories , honest helpful advice coupled with a genuine enthusiasm of the cars and good will for both the sellers and buyers. Let alone a real appreciation for the cars place in automotive history.

Some of the euro cars seem to bring out a level of animosity for the whole process that makes you question if the commenters are even enthusiasts.
