Reposted from the general thread. Hopefully all you W124 CE experts are loggged on here...

I have a 1995 320CE bought recently, drove very well on purchase and still continues to fell strudy and precise. However, the last couple of weeks a grating sound has developed when cornering. This was more pronounced when I had a passenger in the rear. The car has a skirt, although not particularly low, and the car didn't make this noise when I first got (and I drove it harder when I first got it to try out the 3.2 litres!). The shocks were replaced by the previous owner only 7000 kms ago and the noise comes from both sides, so I assume this is not the problem. A friend suggested it could be the bushes, is this a common problem with this model? I'm not mechanically minded and don't really know how the bushes work, appreciate some advice.

bushes? I take it he means bushings.. Perhaps, if the rear end was really knackered..

first thing would be to get back there and look around for rub marks...in the fender well/on the body kit.. Next would be to get it to your pref'd indy for a look on the lift.

Could be bad bearing/half shaft/sticking caliper...
