Well, I was unlucky to have my oil pressure gauge leak. I found a used one but prior to hooking it up I disassembled the original gauge. I found a leak in the end of the curved brass tube and have soldered it closed.

Now, does anyone know how much pressure I should put on the tube to test it? I will arrange to pressurize the tube for 24 hours prior to using it but I need to know how much pressure to put on it.

I found the leak by blowing into the fixture. The leak was at the solid end at the solder point where the bellows attached to the body of the gauge.

BTW, what a mess to clean up! The oil had dripped all of the way down to my foot, which was how I first discovered the leak. I guess that I did not watch the gauges enough to see that the oil pressure had dropped to 0. There was even black oil inside of the plastic backlit strips that I removed by inserting paper.

Thanks for any assistance.

Just replace the gauge unit with a good used unit.

There is about 60-70PSI going into that gauge at certain times.
