Hello, I have a problem with starting my 300SD in cold weather. I always have to slightly step on the gas pedal while turning the key. It starts but shuts down if I remove my foot from the gas pedal. I have to leave it there for about 2 to 3 minutes depending on how cold the weather is. After that it runs without any problem. I'm wondering if that is normal with diesel engines or if there is something wrong. I live in the DC area and I don't have access to an outlet for me to use the heater. During summer months I don't encounter this problem. Any response will be appreciated. Thanks.

something is not quite right.

valve clearance, injector spray pattern, or glow plugs. I only have problems starting mine w/o a block heater when it's below 10 degrees.
