I have a '92 300D with almost 129K miles. I think I've decided to take the plunge and replace the original vacuum pump. I'm seeing about $300 for the pierburg pump. Should I go ahead and replace the pump now or wait (I haven't been hearing anything weird)? I'm a university student, so I don't have a lot of money to spend on my car. Also, the pump is indeed located on the front of the engine? Does anyone have any tips or a how-to on replacing the pump?

Thanks,
Matt
