Working on a 1992 300CE Cabrio sent over by a good local shop.

The ASR light comes three minutes after starting the engine, regardless of whether the car moves. I found that when the light comes one, the ASR pressure pump under the master cylinder and the return pump in the ASR/ABS unit stop running. This scenario can be repeated over and over.

The shop replaced the throttle actuator, the OVP, and the brake light switch. They found the harness to be in good condition.

Other than this, car appears to be in excellent condition with 85K miles, runs perfectly.

Thanks for any ideas,

CT

Good condition as in they verified the harness build tag to make sure it was made in 1998 or later???

If not sure, they're merely guessing by looking which is not good enough.

My W124.051 did that and the MB dealer where I bought it claimed that they solved the problem by 2 or 3 bleeds of the hydraulic system. No problem since.

I had exactly that when I first had my 300CE-24. It was under warranty from MB dealer and they said that they repeatedly bled the hydraulic system before the problem went.

this happened to me today- it was raining and the ASR light came on
it has been on ever since
I assume that it was due to the rain getting into a sensor

but correlation doesn't necessarily lead to causation

Old thread revival here, but to the OP and last poster, what ended up being the fix? My wagon developed this issue this weekend and I am trying to address what the likely fixes will be from a handful of other posts like this. I hope it is only what Ray mentioned about the brakes needing a good bleed. The problem presented itself after I stomped on the brakes hard trying to keep my wagon from sliding down an icy hill backward and the subsequent wheel spin trying to get up it. After that series of events, the ABS unit began to vibrate for roughly 3-4 minutes followed by an illuminated ASR light and NO limp home mode. This sequence repeats at every start up regardless of driving or not.
