took the pan off...




1 hour later





there was shreds of rtv inside of the oil pickup..

last time i saw something like this there was a 12 pack involved...how much beer did you consume in this process...congrats on getting the old motor out and apart

This is look like not enough beer to you...not thing clean your engine oil pan better than 1 bottle of Johnny Walker ...are you happy Jippi ?
I have a notification today from UPS : My custom pistons will be here on Nov 11..will post some pics soon..only problem is : run out money for beer...hehehe...

im hunting that down, hes dodging me, i will get my motor, i still got to order all the seals and such to reseal the motor before it goes in. o yea lowered 190 + engine hoist = hoist not clearing the cross member...

That's an ugly looking pan...

As I'd thought, shreds of rtv at oil pickup means low oil pressure - which WILL starve the cam bearing #1 very quickly, causing it to seize.

My garage floor looks like that everytime I do something to the Benz. Shit everywhere, I could just be changing the air filter and there will be random nuts and bolts and hammers laying all over haha. Nothin quite like wading through bits and pieces.

Whoever installed that garage door opener did it wrong from the looks of it.

Glad you got it apart. That pan sure looks nasty. Oil looks like 90 weight gear oil.

Its too low. Is the bar that the chain runs on level from the opener to the wall above the door? If so, then it's installed right. It just looks low and at an angle.

Get it back together yet Jippi? Im down with the JIPPINESS too... Assembled my 2.6 engine and fired it today. Nasty loud clacking noise from the cam. My stupid machine shop did not assemble the cam correctly after machining. Sounds like I am missing a shim on some of the rockers. GRRRR.....

Do you have the option of checking this motor before its pulled out of the car - things like cylinder compression test, noises, etc. ?

OEM goodness..

Do you have the option of checking this motor before its pulled out of the car - things like cylinder compression test, noises, etc. ?
the motor is coming from a local yard with full 90day warrenty. hes still dodging me, 2 weeks later still no motor.. wth... on the good side i got all the gaskets in..
