Out today, nice and hot day 32c, 25 mins on the open road, hit a red traffic light and the car stalls. Car fires on cranking but just dies. I roll the car to the side, leave for 5 mins and She fires up and off we go. 10 mins up the road and another red traffic light and another stall. 5 mins and off I go and manage to get home.
My CPS is about 3 years old with very low miles less than 5k, genuine Bosch from Rockauto.
What do you think CPS again?
I have ordered a new one already.

Wayne, if it is the CPS again, I would send the newish one to Bosch with a letter asking them to examine it, and to explain why it has failed after such a short time.

It is possible, but I don't think that is the CPS.
This is band aid to the problem.

It is a magnet, look for damaged / cracked sensor, CK the hole, metal fillings, broken flywheel sensor tooth, connector, etc.

Regards,
aam.

I will give it a good look over when I get the new CPS. Still its classic CPS failure symptoms plus only occurs when the car is hot. Thinking back the last time I used the car prior to this episode it stalled as I was parking it in the garage.

It could very well be the CPS, When I changed mine, I threw the used 1 in the trunk. I changed mine just cause!!!!! Every Co. has defective parts,If it were Me, I would get the new CPS and throw a wrench in the car and go for a ride, when it quits, change the CPS, if it runs, You have found your problem!!!!!! its a $40 part, change it and forgetaboutit!!!!!!!

What is a CPS?

Thanks,
Jay
If you are on the wrong side of the law in England, the Crown Prosecution Service :D

If you have a hot misfiring SL500 it's the Crank Position Sensor

I got the new CPS delivered today and fitted it to the car. Went for a spin taking the same route as before, today is cooler at 24c. Thought all was well until almost home where I need to stop for a turn and she dies. Starts immediately, I get back into the garage, lift the bonnet with the engine still running, a couple of minutes and she stalls. Starts again then stalls. Starts again immediately and ticks over fine.
I have had it running in the garage for an hour or so, randomly it stalls then will immediately start again for 5 or ten mins before stalling again. I have plugged in my PC with carsoft and cant find any issues. Is there an obd11 socket anywhere?
Did manage to reset the Gearbox adaptive values whilst playing with carsoft
What now any ideas ?
