The saga began here. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r-c107-sl-slc-class/1665114-ok-rowdie-where.html

Outside temps are over 100F everyday right now so morning for a couple of hours is all I can stand.
1. Vacuum leak. Pulled cluster and connected the economy gauge. Idles rough and gauge is mid range. Disconnected feed to vacuum systems at firewall. Mighty Vac will not pull a vacuum. Left it unplugged. Engine vacuum is about 15 at 2000 RPM but fluctuates. No obvious leaks but can't see the WUR.

2. Resistor plugs, burned contacts in distributor cap and rotor. Plugs wires look OK. Ordered NGK non resister, cap, and rotor. Also have a CIS Fuel pressure tester coming (needed one of those for a long time)

3. Removed console panel. Something to work on inside. Hard to find one for a 5 speed. Thinking about going retro with vinyl covering instead of wood veneer.

4. Wheel/tire change in the morning.

WUR at back of the block, under intake manifold next to steering box. Not bad to get to.

I remember looking at it on the '81 for Nobby. I think our definitions of not bad are different.:D

.......while you are changing your oil.

I must say.... compared to other engines, this WUR is in a DUMB spot.

Got bundts back on it. The 8 holes that were on it are 6.5x15 ET44 with 195/65/15 tires.
Noticed something about the bundts I have. The ones off the '72 are 6x14 instead of 6.5x14.

Yes. Mercedes calls it a governor but you don't have to worry. You don't have one.
Next you are going to tell me I don't have a clutch pedal either...grin.

Keep us posted as you make progress.

The 3 pedal variety beats the 2 in this game.
