the cigarette lighter in my 240D seems to be fried. I know its not the heating element because i plugged in a phone charger and nothing happened. any ideas what could be wrong? and how to fix?

First check fuse, then voltmeter on plug that connects to ashtray...

If your glove box light works and radio, it's not the fuse. Also the electrical contacts on the side of ashtray may be crud up.
