i have a very tired 77 240 4 speed, can a 115 engine be installed into a 123 body?

maybe re-locate the oil filter to the fire wall or fender but will the mounts bolt up?

i have a york a/c compressor on the 123 as does the 115 240

not a lot of used 240 engines out there:eek:

just a thought

Sure it can. You'll have to fuss and fidget a little, but nothing too serious.

My '77 123 has the 115 engine from the factory. Single, side draft Stromberg carb. The oil filter should not be a problem. Mine mounts to a housing bolted onto the lower-left front side of the engine - cartridge type. A Mercedes mech I know said the 115 and 240 engines used the same lower end. Don't know if that is correct but if it is, your job should be easier because of it.

I can forsee a problem with the IP shutoff. The W115's have a manual cable fuel shutoff and that would need to be migrated since the car isn't wired with the pull knob for that.
