Hi Guys,

I have just bought a 230ce 1985. It came with a key that works in the ignition but not in any of the doors. I'm assuming this is the secondary key and I may need to order a master from MB. Or, should a secondary key work in one of the doors as well, in which case the lock barrel may have gone ? Can anyone clarify this please ?

Thanks,
Sunny.

Congratulations on the purchase.

I suspect that the ignition may have been replaced already with a "new" key (matches the ignition). Those that are original that went with car are those of the door.

Can't the "ignition key" open the trunk and lock the glove box?

Ahh, didn't think of that! Yes, maybe the ignition has been changed and I have the key for only the ignition now and hence why the doors won't open. I think i'll order a master key from MB and that should solve the mystery. It will either work in the doors or won't!
