Sorry for a really dumb question, but I really don't want to break anything. I need to change the air filter on my 230, but after I snap off the two clips, the air filter cover really doesn't move very much. Do I disconnect the hose that leads to the cover? If so, does it matter which side of the hose I disconnect? The three tabs that hold the cover on the back side seem to hold it very tight. Once the hose is off, do I just pull the cover straight forward? Thanks! I rebuild old farm tractor engines for a hobby, but this little MB is a little more fragile and less forgiving of brute force. Most tractor parts respond well to a hammer. I have searched the forum, but I guess most folks don't find this to be much of a problem.

Now I'm really confused. There is only one hose coming into the top of the air cleaner cover. The air cleaner is the box on the left front corner of the engine compartment (facing the car) correct?

Thanks Bazzle! I really like this little car so I tend to be pretty cautious before I start removing anything. It seems a little more fragile than my wife's 2006 C-Class - or maybe I just am more attached to it. I bought it in May of 2002 and it still only has 21,000 miles.
