225 tires on 300E ?

Anybody put 225-60-15 tires on stock 1991 300E rims? Will the wider tire increase steering effort too much? The 195-65-15 stock tire size is an underperformer.
I can get some Z rated Firestone SZ50's on close-out, and the 225-60-15 size I put on my BMW 535i really made it handle much better, but I am worried that (even if they fit) the 225s will increase steering effort in the MBZ. Thanks

Re: 225 tires on 300E ?

Yes, it does affect the steering. but, I didn't mind the 'stiffer' steering. I actually prefer it - more feel. But as far as 225's, if you check the posts, some have had good success with it, others not. I'm currently 'struglling' with 225/55's, which actually has shorter wall than your 60's, and I'm getting some rubbing. Clearance on the 300s is a challenge. I'm still working with my local tire guy. Rims size is a factor too.

Hope that helps...
