I am about to remove my glow plugs to replace them, several are bad, i have heard of removing the fuel injector and spraying wd40 down on the tip of the plug to break up any carbon build up. anyone ever tried this before? not sure if its worth it if one gets stuck and what consequence it could have.

You might want to repost it in General section where diesel topics should go IN THE LACK OF DIESEL SECTION.
On 300 diesel lot of members broke the plug, what ended with head removal. Not a pretty picture. WD40 should never be used on the car. What you might use is PB Blaster sprayed and resprayed day before.
