Does anyone know if I can fit 20's on my 2003 E500.
I've seen pics and heard its possible, but my local tire shop does not recommend it. I also own a 99 E and was told that 20s wouldn't fit on that either, but recently I seen one with a 1.5" drop with 20s. Please any info would be greatly appreciate thanks.

20's or 22's ? Will 22's Fit ?

I own a 2003 E500 and was trying to decide between 20's and 22's. I wanted to know if 22's will fit a stock suspension setup with out any rubbing or modification. Any technical assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks:)

22's are way to huge for a W211. Fitting them would require a 4x4 lift kit for clearance. Maximum TUV approved application I show is:

9.0x20 ET31 (245/30R20)
10x20 ET31 (285/25R20)

Fender rolling in the rear is highly recommended to prevent any possible rubbing issues.

Hello Ken, Thanks for the information. I see you replying to a lot of the technical questions here on this forum. It is appreciated. THANK YOU!!

Would you know of a kit available so I can put 22s on the E500?

Generally, wider wheels & tires will improve handling, but also slow down acceleration rates and increase braking distance due to the increase in unsprung weight.

As far as a lift kit for the E500 so you can fit 22's... I haven't heard of anyone doing this. Usually if you want a lifted Mercedes that can handle 22's with few issues you'd go with an ML-Class, GL-Class, or G-Wagon. All of the E500's in the US have an airmatic suspension system. You would most likely have to have someone build you a custom suspension system for the car. I think the cleanest aggressive look for the W211 would be the 20" staggered option running an offset that will have the wheels flush with the fender line and lowering the car maybe 30mm or so to get rid of the "gap". If you let me know what part of the country you're in I might be able to refer you to some local custom shops.
