Hello all....my wife got a new 2019 AMG C43 6 weeks ago. It had 35 miles on it. The car will shift in unexpected ways with the car being very jerky in its shifting. The first week it was back at the dealer after the car bucking while shifting gears, but it threw no error codes and they dismissed it as it being new and needing to be broken in. .

My wife drove it for another week and while far from smooth in it's driving it didn't act as it did that first time that prompted a return to the dealer. The next week, while she was out with her mother, it started bucking like a bronco. My mother in law described it as "violent" in the way it behaved..

It has happened 4 times in the brief time the car has been in our possession. My wife describes it as she'll press the accelerator and the car will not want to go and then lurch forward abruptly and start with that bucking motion. For all to know, she has it in Comfort mode and it is in automatic not manual.

Tomorrow is 3 weeks that we dropped it back at the dealership for it to be diagnosed but we've heard nothing as to what it could be. It seems that without throwing a code no one knows what to do. They were calling MB engineers to see what they knew but at this point it's beyond frustrating.

Anyone else have any situation similar to this?

I have a 2014 GL 63 and it does something similar. Not as violent, but not responsive in Sport Mode, then once it engages, it's rough. Typically 1st gear...sounds like a similar problem.

Doesn't sound like I will get to any resolution either unless there is a code they can access....shoot.

Best of luck and I will return back to the thread if I hear something.

I just got an 2019 AMG C 43 and it has a very similar issue with the upshifting from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd gear as it starts with bucking motion. I have taken it to the dealer twice but no fix yet and they are being very unresponsive

Thread looks a bit old, but was wondering if anyone found resolution to the GLC43 bucking issue. I have a 2018 that experiences the same problem, but only in sport mode. I am now experiencing acceleration/power loss in comfort mode. Have had it in a couple of times, but no codes, so no problems from the dealer‘s perspective.

Thought it could be mass airflow sensor, throttle position sensor, throttle body, or even crankshaft sensor. But no codes. I do occasionally have back fire after switching from sport to comfort mode. But no oxygen sensor issue or exhaust issue. Thought I had a fuel pump issue initially, but again ruled out.

I’m finding the power loss to become a safety concern. It is not consistent and appears the control center is shutting the car down for some reason (Limp mode). Car has never died and has never Had a problem starting. But, when the light turns green and I have no power, its a recipe for being rear ended.

Shifts can be rough at times so the tech adjusted the shift timing - didn’t make a difference.

Would like to see if anyone has found a resolution.

Try asking your dealer if there is any software upgrades. I’ve had my ML500 done and the C250 done for free.
I know when the C43 is in sports + the shifts are aggressive and you really need to be on the throttle to smooth them out.

Appreciate the feedback. Have been through all the software to no avail. I agree you need to be aggressive in sport mode. Most of my problems are when i need to brake quickly then accelerate. Seems like a clutch issue - much like popping the clutch in the old days. I don’t use the paddle shifters much, so it appears to be a auto downshift delay. I can live with that, even though it is embarrassing in traffic. My biggest concern is now the power loss. Could be a vacuum leak, but nothing detected by the dealer.

Keep the good thought coming.

I had same issue with 2018 GLC43 only in sport plus mode. Very bad aggressive bucking when slowing down on hill before slow turn etc.

Just leased 2020 GLC 43- 2 things- 1. It often starts with sound and shifting like in sport mode with sound exhaust on- but all indicators show comfort mode with normal exhaust sound;

2. Definite delay at times from a stopped position or in stop and go traffic.
Have not yet had it looked at.

I know this is an old thread, but I have same car that starting having similar problems last month. Yesterday, warning light comes on and take into dealership. Car needs a new transmission. WTF, 10,000 miles on it 11 months old. And to boot, they have no idea when a new tranny will be available.

my god the same thing has happened to my 2019 c43 16k miles. Even after a brand new transmission installation MB dealership is still unable to fix the harsh shifting. Its likely ill have to lemon the car as its been almost 40 days and still no resolve. Any luck with your replacement?

I bought a pre-owned 2019 AMG C43 Cabriolet with 20k miles...transmission lurches at low speeds in 1st and 2nd gear...taking to dealership next week. Anyone have new information on this issue?

I’ve have taken my car to the dealer a number of times with the same “bucking“ concern (lol). They can’t duplicate so I guess its not a problem. Now that my warranty is finished, I’m sure they will find something.

Have seen other postings suggesting that new transmission is required, but still doesn’t fix the problem.

I just purchased a cowboy hat to go along with the bucking - not as embarrassing if you just own it.

I've a 2017 C43 (48k miles) and has now been back to the Mercedes twice. The dash displayed Transmission Malfuction and I was stuck in Neutral. Had the car recovered and brought to Mercedes Belfast. They said it was a software update that was causing the issue (£260 fix). 3 weeks later and the same fault appeared now they are saying it could be a Gear Box and oil. But they're 100% sure that this will fix the problem, its the only solution they can think of. But I'm not sure whether to fork out another £600. Should I go elsewhere for a fraction of the cost?

Hi Geeli,
Looks like I may have the same problem on my 2018 FL C43. The same happened twice over the last 4 weeks, mileage about the same... Have you managed to fix it or find out what caused it?
Thanks!
