Are you actually referring to the radio, or to the COMAND screen?
Are you actually referring to the radio, or to the COMAND screen?
Problem overview..... radio/screen activated by radio button....vehicle ignition turned off(radio/screen)turns off...... next time ignition is turned on the radio/screen does not turn on... requires manually pushing radio button(the button that is surrounded by the volume ring) Radio performs normally...turns off with ignition but next time ignition is activated the radio does NOT come on....

I'm not completely sure I'm following your description, but it sounds like you are talking about the COMAND screen. Is that correct?
Screen is "blank" when radio is off..... when radio is on screen is on showing station being played...
I turn ignition OFF.... radio and screen go OFF.... next time I activate the ignition the radio and screen remain off... IE: they both used to automatically come on to the previous station... I have manually power up the raion using the radio power button...

I guess I'm confused because my car doesn't really have a "radio" power button. The COMAND screen has a power button (the round one in the middle of the vertical console stack, which also functions as a volume knob), and when switched on, the screen displays whichever infotainment option is selected (e.g., radio, media, navi, phone). I pretty much never switch off the COMAND screen, so it usually comes on automatically when the car starts up, and it displays whatever was last selected. For example, if I have the screen on with the radio playing when I shut the car off, then that's what I get when I restart the car. However, if I press the Mute button on the steering wheel before shutting the car off, then the selected audio option doesn't play when the car is restarted; I have to press the Mute button on the steering wheel to turn it on. As far as I know, that's functioning as designed and it makes sense to me.
