Hello first time posting on this forum. I need some help/input from other W222 owners. I have a 2015 S550 and as time goes on the lack in build quality really starts to show. It has just passed 90k miles. To keep it short it seems as if everything is started to fall apart in one way or another whether its interior, exterior, or mechanical. My most recent issue I am facing which has lead me to post this is a Oil Leak deep in the engine bay which seems to be coming from the turbo area. I stopped the other day in traffic and noticed a faint smoke coming out of the hood. Took a peak and located oil leak which looks to be dripping down near exhaust causing smoke. That aside there is a rattling/clunking sound upon start up for a few seconds (has been doing since 45k miles) but it seems to get progressively worse. From what I've seen these M278's are hit or miss. Transmission also has a mind of its own and sometimes shifts hard (Especially First gear) you can definitely feel it. That aside interior just creaks and makes noises from all over especially roof area when turning which is odd, latches on rear pocket behind seats have been out since 40k miles (tried fixing with Velcro doesn't hold up), rear shades also have a mind of their own sometimes work sometimes don't. Do I just get rid of it, because I feel like soon it's going to open a very big expense. You can just tell these cars just don't react well as time goes on and they actually get driven. That's my perspective and my experience from what I've seen not bashing on Benz I've had W124's and it just looks like these newer ones don't hold up. Any information or opinions is greatly appreciated, seriously considering getting rid of it or just driving it without putting another dollar into it until the wheels fall off or something catastrophically fails. Thanks!

I have a 2016 with 45k on it. No oil leaks (yet) but do have rattles in the headliner/roof area. And rattles drive me nuts. I cracked open the sunroof to let the wind noise block it out and found that when I open it all the way, it's gone. I think it mat be a loose fastener or may need lubrication. Shifting hard here too, boss! The dealer said no issues twice so I gave up on them for that. It seems to happen mostly when it's cold then after a few miles, it's gone. This has been one of my favorites & that includes Porsches, Audis and a Tesla Model S (barf) so it's sad to hear you have these issues. If it was me, I would put some lipstick on it & trade it in.

Oh wow … and I thought I was imagining things … I have 2015 550 with 80K miles , and I love it… however , transmission does shift whichever way it feels like it I guess … some days smooth and easy, and other days just hard and jerky … car started to stall on me , at harder acceleration , will have to look into that soon … no weird noises or cracks so far … I love the car , I’d hate to trade it for something else , there is actually nothing else I’d rather have , so not sure what would I trade it for

Hello W222s550, I just saw this and possibly too late, but I too, have the oil leak problem (as many do as well!). If I'm correct, your problem is oil leaking from the backside of the engine directly in front of the driver, right against the firewall. Oil will drip on the exhaust manifold and smell/smoke. The problem isn't too critical but annoying nun the less. The leak is from the pcv valve and covers located on the back side of the engine. They are super easy to replace but a real bugger to get to. There are many videos online to show how to fix this. Just go to YouTube and key in "M278 engine PCV valve oil leak"
