Getting multiple misfires on my ML 350. If I shut vehicle off and then back on the engine will run smooth again. Running down the highway vehicle runs smooth until I come to a stop. When I stop and idle it will misfire again and I have to shut it down and then back on to get it to stop. I did check the battery voltage as a low battery has caused issues with this vehicle before, but it is good. Also rans a couple bottles of Seafoam as instructed by my mechanic, Vehicle ran entire week after I put in the Seafoam without a problem but then started again at about a quarter of a tank left.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks

I have not yet. Found some old discussions where people have done plugs and wires to no avail. The weird thing is the vehicle will run for days without doing it. Even had the check engine light shut off on its own. My thinking is that if it was a plug or wire issue it wouldn't stop for any period of time and it wouldn't stop if I shut it off and restart it. In those old discussions there was no solution given. Do you agree with my assessment? I know I may have to try at some point but I am hoping not to just throw parts at it.

Not completely I know that if you have to many miss fires in a cylinder the ecu will shut that cylinder down, hence why it is good again after a restart. So it may only misfire 5 or 6 times in a drive cycle and then gets shutdown. So your actually feeling a complete cylinder shut down.

Did you use a mercedes specific scanner to get the error codes?
Hoe
How many miles? Maybe it is time for new plugs and coils. Plugs every 6 years or 60k miles.

Did not use a Mercedes specific scanner and I am goiing to put new plugs and coils in but was wondering if my symptoms are consistent. As I stated earlier there were a few old posts that had same issue, and plugs and coils did not fix issue.

Don't bother with coils unless you know you have one that's bad. Check the condition of the plugs. I had similar issues and it turned out to be a bad fuel injector. I'm thinking it may have been due to using e85, not sure though. How's you gas mileage? MB scanner can help you look at fuel trims and narrow it down to the left or right bank.
