Hi All,

I just had the advisory message "Engine oil Pressure Control, see owners manual." From research I believe this is due to one of the 2 oil pressure sensors showing a different value to the other. oil pressure is guaranteed it says in the manual.....thankfully.

Has anyone tried to replace these switches? its a shame it doesn't let you know on the OBD reader which sensor is giving the issue as from looking at the sensors, one may be possible to change by DIY, yet the other is buried behind pipework and will require removal of the A/C compressor to access it.:frown.

is there a way to test the sensor I can access whilst fitted to the car as I can remove the plug, im not sure of the wiring on the sensor part number A 008 153 0028??

if I remove this sensor to replace will it require an oil drain first or can I remove and replace with minimal oil loss?

Does anyone have access and can attach the Mercedes technical bulletin Li15.18-P-054061 as im told it may be related to this message.

Many thanks for any help in advance.

Where in the manual did you find that oil pressure is guaranteed, please?
Do you have a page number, please?

thank you so much!

Quick update (good news). Last week we changed the 1 oil pressure sensor that was somewhat readily accessible. It's about a $100 part. The other of 2 sensors looked to be a nightmare to access. We didn't change that one. After changing the 1, we hoped it would resolve the problem, but the oil pressure sensor warning message stayed on, even after disconnecting/reconnecting the battery. Ugh. We figured that either we either needed to still change the other sensor (hopefully not), or needed the factory computer/software to reset the warning message.

Today - took car to my authorized MB dealer - their computer system could read and clear any error codes/messages within minutes. The warning message did not come back on! In addition, their computer could read both oil pressure sensors simultaneously, in real time, through different rev ranges to confirm all was within spec. Drove home about 20 min and no warnings!

Had the other sensor been the bad one, that would have been an expensive proposition in terms of labor to get to it, and put things back together.

For all who got the same problem. First step is to replace the Wiring harness ( there is a set at the dealer just for the Oil sensors). If thats not fix the issue than replace both Oil Pressure sensor. You can check them with Xentry. Engine not runing they should have exactly 0.00. (One is jumping to 0.00-0,1 or so)
