Recently purchased a used 2012 S550 4Matic. We have issues starting the vehicle (not a Keyless Go car). I've changed the battery in the key and it shows to be fully charged (battery test for key); also tried 2nd key and same issue. Sometimes it will start the first time, others it won't. I can't seem any rhyme or reason to it. The last time we had this issue my wife drove to the kids school to pick them up. She parked and turned the engine off...when the kids arrived, she tried to start it and it wouldn't turn over (no strange sounds, all lights come on, radio comes on, AC comes on, no error messages). I went to pick her up...got in the car and sat there for about 30 minutes and tried it again...it started. Took it to the MB dealership and service manager had same issue. However, when techs tried to replicate it the next morning, it starts every time. Help!!!!!!!!! This car has to be dependable for the wife!

I'm surprised the car isn't throwing up any codes when this issue occurs.

It's been two days since your post -- has the intermittent start persisted since you last picked it up from the dealer? A car that new should be under CPO warranty, and they had better be doing everything to resolve the issue.

I know this thread is old....

I had this issue in the 01 and it had to do with the starter going bad along with the EIS. I was lucky enough to have my pocket scanner with me so when it happen I would just clear the codes related to it and the car started right up. Once the starter was replaced the car started every time. The EIS was throwing low voltage errors at the time so that's why that got replaced.
