I have 2 issues with my drivers side door actuator:
1. Cannot manually lock with door open
2. Remote lock press gets no response.

Details.

First, I have replaced the troublesome spring. This seems to be working well. This was replaced due to the bouncing lock issue. Just prior to removal, the bouncing lock stopped bouncing and remained in the LOCKED position.

Regrettably, I did not do any testing of the actuator until after replacing the spring.

Second, with the actuator
Power: None
Latch: Closed
I am able to manually lock and unlock without issue.

Third, with the actuator
Power: None
Latch: Open
I am NOT ABLE to manually lock. The locking lever will only travel about 1/2 way into the locked position. It is not a hard stop. Prior to removal, I was unable to press down on the lock with the door open. So this has not changed. I thought this was just a "feature", but on testing passenger side, I am able to lock with door open.

Fourth, with the actuator
Power: Yes
Latch: Open or Closed
The actuator responds to the remote unlock and will unlock or try to unlock.
The actuator DOES NOTHING on pressing the remote LOCK. I can here the passenger door clicking, but the drivers door actuator does nothing.

So, my main concern is the none response to the remote lock. Is there a way to determine if this is the actuator not responding or the receiver not sending a signal? Seems odd for the actuator motor to only spin one way.

Regards.

ISSUE SOLVED.

Well. Whoever decides the "Recommended Reading", God Bless Them.

The RR listed a post indicating the door was not locking because the DOOR CLOSED SWITCH needs to be in the door closed position. I have had this car for 10+years. Never ever saw the switch. Depressing the switch and voila, the mechanism locks.

Why on Earth would MB add this complication? Silly Germans.

This does not solve me locking with the door issue, but maybe that is the way it is supposed to operate. It would be consistent with the electric door lock, although the passenger side is different.

Thanks for the site.
