My dealer called me to end my lease 6 months early. I was wondering what people are seeing for market prices for the E. I would like a deal like my last one 3 years ago, MSRP of 57 and I paid 51. I assume this is still possible given the new model next year, slow down in luxury cars, etc.

Now why would anybody want an E350 when they can have a Bluetec?

I agree with you. Two problems, 1) my dealer doesn't have any (which will affect my ability to negotiate), and 2) I would like 4 matic. But I would really like to drive one. I love the torque and gas mileage. How does it compare to 4 matic with a pair of snows?

With snows working with the ESP it's almost like suction cups. I have a set of steel wheels (225/55 R16 95H M+S is the recomended size however 215/55 R16 provide a very nice cut thru heavy wet snow) and have a slightly higher load rating.

Overall the Michelin MXV4's have done very well year around. When I am running the MXV4's I carry a set of chains which will cut thru the worst snow you could possibly want to drive in.

The 4-Matic is over rated for 95% of the population and even then the 5% that would use it only need it a few times a year (hill side driveways coated with ice).

I would urge you to have your dealer do a search. The money you save in the first year on fuel alone will make up any losses in negotiations you may have to give up for the car.

The CDI in 3 years will easily command a 5-7K preimium over a used E350 4-Matic all realized fuel savings aside.

We don't get huge snow in Pittsburgh. Maybe 30 inches per year. But we have a lot of hills and slushy/ice conditions with RWD won't work. I run MXV4s now and like them. I run them all year.

I really like the Bluetec idea. What is the real MPG you get? Now with an 80/20 highway to city mix I get 25MPG and this is growing. Last year it was 24MPG. And my last all highway trip was near 29MPG. I also drive pretty aggressively. What can I expect from the Bluetec?

Tell me about the performance? Is that torque that sweet? That's why I'm jazzed about.

Resale is a small factor. I tend to doubt the diesel premium. People I talk to give me a funny look when I mention diesel. But I agree the 350 4matic is a dime a dozen.

My dealer left me a message that are not allowed to sell Bluetec in Pennsylvania until 2009. He said that PA conforms to the California regulations?

As for performance, It's as quick to 60 as the E350 and does it really matter that the CDI is governed to 130mph and it will do every bit of it with ease!

I too drive aggressively, I can easily get 29mpg at 110mph with the A/C on...

Here is real world fuel economy (see pictures below).

PA does, but that answers your question, If you place an order now, you'll be able to take delivery of your new 2009 in the fall when the 1st ones arrive. Fall is not that far off!:D
