Having an issue where the car only moves in (both forward and reverse) at low RPM otherwise something starts spinning freely under the car with a slight grinding sound.
While in park it still rolls a bit.
Transmission oil level is fine and only 100,000km on the car.

Before I have it torn apart to diagnose, has anyone had a similar experience or can help narrow down the source of this problem?
Maybe a 4MATIC issue?

Thanks!

It sounds like something isnt connected properly. I would check driveshafts, differentials and axles to see their condition. Are you able to move the car while its in park? Cars generally roll a little when you put it in park and let go of the brakes, but eventually the transmission catches the car. If that isnt the case, then something related to the drive-train is disconnected and not allowing the transmission to hold the wheels

Yes, it rolls slowly in park and does not stop on its own.
No obvious problems with axles or anything that can be seen intact on the hoist.
Bringing it in next week for a thorough check.. I'll post here what the problem was.
Thank you!

If you have the 4matic, then you have an open differential in the front and back. Try rotating the wheels when all are off the ground. The front two should move together (in opposite directions) and the rear together. If one of the wheels spin freely without the other, then i would start looking there. If that seems intact, then I would check the front and rear driveshafts for play. Let us know what happens!

Both wheels spin freely on the front and that's while the transmission is in park.
Thanks

Problem solved! CV joint had popped out of place.
