Hi all.

I have a question I hope someone can answer regarding a strange light around my dashboard on my 2007 S550 4matic. It’s not a warning light or a dash light of any kind. It’s a small, singular, bulb sitting atop of my dash seal right on the perimeter of my steering column behind my steering wheel. It is always on. It’s either solid green, or flashing red. It’s constantly switching between flashing red and solid green with no obvious explanation as to why. I have googled this repeatedly, and thoroughly read my manual. I have attached pictures of the light in both of its stages. Does anyone know what this light means/is telling me? What is triggering it? Should I be concerned? Thanks!

My 2008 does not have that light ... I wonder if someone might have installed a radar detector and instead of an audible alarm chose to use a visual bulb? It does not look like standard MB equipment to me.

I’ve thought about that too. So odd. That sounds like a possibility. I just can’t figure out any triggers for it coming on. I’ve actually been pulled over in it, and it remained green. So interesting.

It is possibly an aftermarket install, unless you have owned the vehicle since new. From the pictures you posted it seems to be related to distance from the vehicle in front of you ... red when close, green when far enough away ... maybe related to distronic?

I thought that too, except my vehicle isn’t equipped. I haven’t owned since new. I’ve owned for a month lol. I had a w208 before. I thought it might be related to the traction control, or the 4matic, but I’m still stumped. Next step, call the dealer. Thank you both for the ideas.
