I have a 2007 s550 4matic and I need to replace the amplifier. The part number is A2218701789 and the model number BE 7021.
Would an amplifier from a 2007 sl550 be compatible? The model number is BE 7003.

That is risky. I haven't tried it, but generally the components are vehicle-specific. One component may be used in several different models, but are most often not interchangeable with other models that use different part numbers.

Please note that our DIY & FAQ stickies (blue-backgrounded areas toward the top of the forum page) provide sources for component-level repair. See the Audio section. It would be far less expensive to have your amp repaired than to either buy a new one or to buy a used one that won't work. If you don't want to have yours repaired, it would be better to go to a salvage yard and buy one with the proper part number. The DIY & FAQ can help you there too; or, see post 15, HERE and look for the parts portion.

Should be plug & play however, if you should need coding/software update check for independent using MB Xentry (diagnostics).

It should be plug and play, as the coding is stored in the TGW (COMAND) unit. Only the tuning frequencies are stored in the TUS221 unit and some DSP data that should not change.
