i was at my oil change and they told me i should change the transmission fluid in my car. 2007 mercedes c230 6 speed manual. They put in mobile 1. I realized they only put in about 2 quarts and told me it is full but something tells me that is not right!

Well anyways now my shifter that was nice and smooth is very notchy and going from 1st to 2nd is a bitchhh it clunks in..... im really worried and wondering what i should do. my car only has only 30k miles should i go to original mercedes fluid again

Very likely they put in a GL-5 gear oil, rather than a GL-4 that is specified. GL-5 has extreme pressure additives that tend to be too slippery for the synchronizers to work properly, resulting in clunks or notchy shifting.

I'd drain it and use either fluid from the dealer or one you're sure meets the correct spec.

I don't believe Mobil 1 actually makes a GL-4, so I'm pretty sure that fluid is not correct. It shouldn't damage anything immediately but it could cause rough shifting.

thanks soo much for that I am rushing to my usual mechanic and having him change out the fluid because my shifter feels soooo notchy which i would be ok with if 1st to 2nd didnt make a clunk noise.

2 quarts is sufficient IIRC. whether that is the correct fluid I don't know but I know the correct GL specification is stated in the service booklet that came with the car. I have seen people report using the Redline manual trans fluid with success and that's what I plan to put in mine.
