I am thinking about replacing the headlight apparatus on my 2007 E550.

I am a novice at best, but when I have had to replace headlight bulbs, I have had to purchase the ones pictured below.

2649338

I have read that there are different types, being either halogen or bi-xenon.

Would that matter which I chose if I was replacing the whole headlight apparatus?

Thanks in advance for the insight and help.

What country are you in? In the US they're called headlight assemblies. And yes, there's a big difference in price between the halogen ones and the bixenons. The bulbs you posted look like bixenons which are better than halogens. The halogens are a couple hundred here and the bixenons were over a thousand each. The bixenons had active curve illumination and they auto level so there's some additional motors in them that the halogens didn't have. If the headlamp covers are cloudy, you can just replace the lense covers. There's youtube videos on how to do it, you kind of bake them or just pry them apart if the glue is weak. The covers you can get on eBay or aliexpress in the $50 range. Or the cheap way to clean the covers is to sandpaper them with finer and finer grits and then seal them with a coat of uv protectant.

Thanks CetiAlpha5. I am in the US. The reason for replacement is that they are foggy... I am going to take your advice and attempt to replace the lens covers. Just a quick google has them pretty cheap from Walmart.

Will try and provide an update when complete.

Thanks again!
