Looking for some advice from other w211 E350 owners. My 2007 E350 Sport suddenly began shutting off/on while driving. I have replaced all Camshaft Position Sensors and Camshaft Adjuster Magnets. When the vehicle shuts off/on while driving along, all dashboard lights flash on/off, engine comes right back on, and then the check engine light stays on. The code is P0335 when I read it. Since I have replaced the Camshaft Poisition sensors I assume this code is due to the off/on behavior and not the sensor itself.

Now every time this has occurred the vehicle was traveling between 25-40 mph. No other codes come up when reading them. Has anyone else come across this scenario? Any advise?

Thanks for you assistance.

I would find a shop with M-B Star to diagnose what is happening. If you want to try a shot in the dark then you could replace the crankshaft position sensor. Four years ago I owned a 2007 E350 Sport, and that along with a Jeep Liberty gave me plenty of opportunities to hook up my OBD2 scanner. Both vehicles had one thing in common: open the drivers door, and see the manufactured by Daimler Chrysler label.

Thanks. I might have to take it to a shop if I can't figure it out in the coming days. I have replaced all the crankshaft position sensors a few days ago thinking that's all it was as well. Now I did just notice while driving it a few moments ago when I turned on the A/C it died and then it didn't want to start up right away. So I'm going to be checking the battery and alternator next. Thought I read somewhere on the forum about this is a possible symptom of a bad battery.

You stated camshaft position sensors.

We are referring to the Crankshaft Position Sensor which is in an entirely different location. Also please make sure to use a Bosch or genuine MB part if you decide to replace it.
If it was a weak battery yould see messages on the gauge cluster that the battery is low and some convenience options have been shut down to save electricity.

If the car restarts in 10-20 minutes after shutting itself down then the the Crank sensor is a very good bet because it has cooled down enough to work again.

In one situation the fuel filter was plugged and after resting the car would start up and drive a few miles and shutdown. A filter replacement fixed that. I do not think that is your issue.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I used Bosch for Camshaft Position Sensor (all 4 of them) front of the engine next to the Camshaft Adjuster Magnet locations. You mentioned "Crankshaft Position Sensor which is in an entirely different location" - are we talking about the same thing? Or is there another sensor I'm overlooking?

konigstiger, thank you for that insight and attachments. I actually didn't know about this Crankshaft Hall Sensor. For some reason I thought it was just the four up front. Obviously overlooked that... thank you. I will have to pick up that sensor and replace it. I will let you know my results after the replacement.

Happy 4th of July to everyone!

konigstiger, thanks again for your assistance. I was able to reach the crankshaft hall sensor and change it out. The car has been running great since the replacement. No more stalling or issues - much appreciated.
