I have recently purchased a 2006 certified MB S500 with Sport Pkg and 34k on it. Pilot Sports on the front have 20k on them and only half worn. The set on the back were bare after 8k. Purchased Goodyear F1 Assymetrics and they were bare after 8k (actually 8k on the right rear, left rears lasting about 11k). Is this normal? I don't drive the car really aggressively. Wanted to go with the Pilot Sport A/S but they only come in 275/40-18's instead of 265/40-18's. Any unforeseen issues with running 275's instead of 265's?

fletcher, my 02 s500 has 275's on rear and they wore out in like 12k, michelin pilot sports. my fronts are about half right now and still going. some say tires should last longer , but some say thats how long they last

My '01 S55 never gets more than 9k on the rears and 18k on the fronts. I had been using the Pilot Sports exclusively, but most recently have given the Extreme Contact DW a shot.

Are they lasting any longer? The conti's in 265 are on extreme backorder. Tried 275's?

the rears are due to high torque. i was using same tires on my clk as i was on c320 and lex gs300, both cars barely showed any wear after 15K, CLK turned the same tire in to slicks in 12K miles.

I had the rear tires changed (in Miami) a year ago before shipping my S430 Sport to the Island. Up to now i dont have any problem of tire wear.

Front 245/45/18 Goodyear F1 Assymetric
Rear 265/40/18 Goodyear F1 All Season

Regards,

Eddie
