Can anyone tell why these a hose on the battery? An do I really need it!? I replaced my battery yesterday, on my new battery the hose is to short. Also please share some of the common problems anyone has had with this car.

Hi, yes I think it is quite important. In some situations, the battery needs to expel some of its liquid, as far as I understand. The hose will take it to the road. If you remove it, the liquid will instead spill inside, thus corroding the metal, and/or worse, generate unhealthy emanations inside the car.

It's do expel battery acid fumes away from the battery tray. It should be routed down below the battery tray and routed out the bottom of the engine bay. If not battery fumes will eventually rust away the tray the battery sits on.

Modern sealed batteries don't use or need them.
