2006 CLK350 (W209) Hazard Switch Panel

191 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  stephen.ribchester19
I have a W209 CLK350 Convertible that has cosmetic sun damage on the hazard switch panel. I am hoping I can repair the buttons but I cant find any details for how I can remove the panel so I can fix it. There are plenty of people selling the units but how are they removed first? Has anyone encountered this, I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Welcome to BW,
This is the New members introductions forum - No car repair issues.

The forum index is organized / grouped according to Mercedes chassis designation, usually one letter followed by 3 digits / numbers, and the section covers all engine / versions the chassis came with.

It's attached with 4 metal clips (one on each side and two in the middle)... it pulls out. A couple of plastic trim tools help, and you need a ton of patience, as it's very tight, and hard to pull out. Here's a couple of screenshots from the video below, that show the metal clips and where they attach.

This video shows the removal process from 1m22s (along with how to remove a lot of other bits)... worth watching the whole thing. Note that it's harder to pull out than it appears on the video.
Good luck!

Yes , it does take more force than shown in the video..
Plastic trim tools are essential , and even try and get an assistant to lever from one side while you do the other.
Even then it is possible that one of the spring clips can be dislodged from its position so try and do it slowly ,gradually and evenly.
