2006 C55 Suspension

I don't want to be "that guy", but I've done a search and can't find the exact answer I'm looking for. That, coupled with the fact, that I'm getting information from a speed shop that has me 2nd guessing all that I have read on the board.

I have a 2006 C55 that I purchased used a few months back. I love the car, but want to freshen up the suspension w/springs due to the vehicle having 30K miles on it (don't want to get into the debate about how the suspension is fine, etc.). I spoke to the owner of a local speed shop and he said that getting springs would be a waste b/c AMG suspensions are the best you can get for the vehicle and it wouldn't lower it any more than it already is from the factory.

1. Will an aftermarket suspension lower the vehicle more than factory? Not looking to go extreme, but would like a .5 - 1 inch mild drop.
2. Are there any suspensions out there that are comparable to the factory ride quality, but lower the car a bit?
3. Just out of curiosity, is there a difference between the 2005 and 2006 suspensions?
4. Rumor has it that C55's were produced in 2007, just not brought over to the US. Was there a suspension upgrade that would get me what I'm looking for that would fit on to my 2006?

The stock suspension is probably the "best" mix between performance and comfort, but there are plenty of other setups people have and love. The most popular being H&R springs with Bilstein shocks.
