I currently own 7 very nice cars and enjoy every one of them, but somethings gotta give. My 6 month insurance policy is due in a few weeks and that's almost $2000. I have big plans for my 300SD and a few things I want to do with the 500SL, and not having enough cash is delaying these plans. I've reluctantly, very reluctantly, chosen to part with this one because it's a redundant commuter and likely the easiest to sell.

I purchased this car directly from Plaza Motors outside of St Louis MO. It is a 1 owner vehicle with a complete service history, along with all the brochures, European delivery information, and 2 keys. It has great options like Adaptive Xenon headlights, HK stereo with satellite, Navigation, integrated phone, heated seats, and Panoramic sunroof. With all the options, the car totalled almost $60k. What a blast it must have been to order this car and take delivery in Germany for the Black Forest Really package. The moment I saw it online I purchased it without hesitation. I paid $8000 for it and have put 3,000 trouble free miles on the car over the past few months.

As far detailed service record information, it shows mostly how reliable these cars are. Never towed in. Other than normal maintenance, some fuel leaks, quite a few suspension parts replaced, and tons of repair attempts on the troublesome keyless go system, the only surprise repair was an EGR & Turbo replacement at 60k. This stemmed from a sluggish engine problem that the techs had a difficult time diagnosing. Thankfully the original owner purchased an extended warranty covering the car to 100k which swallowed that one big repair. Nice to see records of injector seals, lower ball joints, glow plugs, transmission service at 100k, and battery control module replacement. Other than the normal service campaigns, nothing has been done to the SBC system.

I had a PPI done on purchase. The car checked out very well. New brakes, rotors and Michelin tires 4,000 miles before I purchased it. They diclosed a few injectors are just starting to leak around the seals otherwise nothing else to note. I've noticed since owning that the lower ball joints are making a slight rattle on shallow washboard like bumps only, and the passenger seat occupancy sensor needs to be recalibrated. The keyless go, quite comically after several repairs over the years, still does not work. You can lock and unlock the doors with the proximity sensor but the start/stop button is inop.

As far as cosmetics go, as you can see in the photos it looks fantastic. Most would think its black but it's really a dark metallic brown. It has had prior paintwork on the rear quarter and bumper. Other than scuffs on the bumpers and pitting on the hood from 200k, there's no cosmetic issues to note. The car was obviously garaged given the glossly paint as crystal clear headlight lenses. The interior has 3 things worth diclosing. The door panel has a dent where you would rest your elbow, the wood on the steering wheel has cracks, and the passenger head rest adjustment button has broken off, but is still functional. No odors and like the outside, a very well kept interior. Being a designo, it really stands out.

I think I got a fantastic deal when I purchased it for $8000 a few months ago, and I'm happy to pass that along. I would prefer to sell the car through my friend's dealers license to I can trade it in for the sales tax credit on another car, and provide you with a 60 day temporary tag to drive it home. Clean/clear title in my name.

I'm giving you guys first crack at it before craigslist. Photo album linked below.
