Rodney, this is my first mercedes and there is so much to learn. I am trying to locate the amp. I have no sound coming out of the speakers . I wanted to check that amp first. All the images I have seen shows the amp behind the seat inside the back compartment. I have no back compartment

When you lift the lid of the middle armrest, in the original setup you'd find two screws in the back wall of that storage compartment. Removing those allows the original center rear cover to be lifted out. Perhaps that could be a starting point for you also.

Witek, it's a 2003 sl55 amg. Lol I think that's what you are asking.
If you open left door there is factory sticker showing production date, color and bar code.
There are several sound optical ring configurations. Early D2B, later D2B and MOST.
Since you have lost sound first thing to do is to scan vehicle and determine current setup. If aftermarket optical ring bypass was installed you are on your own.

Be would guess if someone went to that length. To build a nice subwoofer box like that, they also may have replaced all the MOST ( fiber optic stuff) and installed a complete aftermarket system.

There's a JL Audio XD amp in the trunk.
Yeah, that's a 6 channel amp, along with MB Quart crossovers. Looking at the wiring, it looks like the crossovers are set up as 2 way. So I'd guess that the amp is set up for L&R-front/L&R-rear/subwoofer-bridged outputs.

I'd bet the door speakers were swapped out for MB Quart. Not only because of the crossovers it has - if the car had a Bose system, the factory door speakers were very low impedance and won't work well with most aftermarket amplifiers and crossovers. The R230 Bose system rear speakers have fairly normal impedance, are quite well built for their size, and are pretty difficult to replace so I'd bet they were left in place along with setting up the power amp channels used to drive them with a high pass filter to eliminate bass frequencies which would blow them.

To remove/disassemble that speaker box, here's my guess - as @Frederick NL said, there's two torx screws at the rear of the console lid that hold the factory rear console cover on. In the factory setup for the lower rear panels, these are held in with spring clips, you just pry/pull on these covers and they pop off. So I'd try removing the two screws and then pull on the lower part of the darker section of the box to see if this panel will come off and reveal whatever hardware is holding the main box in place. You might also try carefully pulling at the speaker grille/mesh area edges to see if these will pop off.

But actually, to be truthful, I'd say if you don't recognize most of this on your own (aftermarket crossovers and power amp in the trunk, etc) you probably will be better off to take it to a professional car audio shop to let them have a look at it. They probably won't charge you much, if anything, just to have a basic look and give you an estimate to get the system going. Car audio isn't rocket surgery, but there is some technical knowledge that is necessary to being able to build and troubleshoot a system. Unless you're really interested in learning/understanding audio systems, it may be best to pay a pro to get it done so you can spend more time driving and less time learning stuff you're not really interested in.

The good news is that the power amp and crossovers (and likely speakers) that you have there are pretty good quality stuff, and that speaker box looks to be well built also. That amp looks like a JL Audio XD600/6 - that's about a $600-700 amp. It has very good self-protection, it's not likely to be blown. So at least you don't have a bunch of junk audio equipment.
