I wanted to start this thread to document my efforts to retrofit a factory phone system to my 2003 S430 which was not originally equipped with a phone or voice control.

There is a lot of good information in the "stickies" of this forum for such a job, but I'll be taking it to a higher level of detail as I recorded the process.

I completed the installation of the hardware last night, which took me about 30-45 minutes total. Today I tackled the adaptations with the DAS (Mercedes diagnostic system) to update all of the systems in the car so they would properly recognize and display the information from the phone system.

I'm pleased to say everything is working great and I'm really pleased with the results. I've got some props to give out to those who assisted me, which I'll do when I've completed the documentation.

Suffice to say this is very doable and the result are quite pleasing.

More to come...

If you cannot get one through a dealership, I suggest a breaker (salvage) yard that handles Mercedes.

If you cannot find one, I suggest you consider using a 3rd party alternative Bluetooth system.
