I was riding on freeway first 3 warning lights came on SRS ABS etc.. then every single warning light start to came on, Parking break alarm etc. Towed my ML320 into shop, They are saying battery and alternator needs to be changed. But no word on price yet i'll get it pretty soon, How much do you think i'll end-up paying for alternator and battery? I think around $700 ? inc tax and labor?

You should have called M/B Roadside Assistance, but that is now water under the bridge.

It is either the battery alone or the alternator alone, but rarely and I do mean rarely that both go at the same time. But now it is going to be difficult to convince them of that.

not sure how much of a Tim Taylor you are but its a pretty simple job. If you the correct Optima Yellow or Red Top battery and the alternator and put it in yourself you will save a bunch of money.

i swapped my alternator from the standard to the ML 430 one and it now puts out 140A instead of the regular 115.

anyways i posted a very "weak" DIY swapping alternator in the DIY sticky check it out. It shouldnt take you more than 2-3 hours max.

price for the standard alternator is $239.99 and High end Battery another 200... Have your alternator tested for free at autozone or AAP...

When you say -towed into the shop- you didn't specify if it was a Mercedes or independent shop.
My guess would be that for an Independent shop you are probably close at ~$500-700. For a Mercedes shop my guess would be ~$1,200+.

I just had the same problem with my 05' ML350 this morning. All my warning lights came on while driving. Going by what the manual says it can either be the alternator or the poly v belt. I will be taking to my local mechanic tomorrow morning.
