Hello folks, ive recently taken a trip out to europe and have been driving my brothers car. In the past day and a half on the nav display there was a warning sign that stated for me to turn on the car or eveything would shut off in 3 mins(however car was on at the time).

Once i parked the car it wouldnt start but had enough battery to operate the doors windows and radio. I jumped the car and it started right away, and let it charge for about half hour. Once i shut the car off however it wouldnt start again.

Does this sound like a battery or alternator problem?

By the way the battery read about 10.6 volts while the car was running.

While the car is running, the battery should read 14 volts+, it sounds like an alternator problem.

Quick update: after letting the car sit in the sun for an hour it started up right away, however my convenienc items such as AC or parking sensors do not work. Once i got the car to the house there isnt enough juice left to start it.

While the car is running, the battery should read 14 volts+, it sounds like an alternator problem.

Right on the money. The alternator is not charging the battery.
Perform load test on battery and alternator. This problem will not go away without a new battery or alternator(possibly voltage regulator).

If you have the time disconnect the battery cables and put the battery on a good charger for a few hours at 10-20 amps.
If the battery comes up to 12+ volts it may not need a battery, but it is really not the best way to test it. A charging system load tester is the best way to go.

Quick update. Turns out it was the relay/regulator thats next to the alternator. It had failed and wouldnt give a proper charge. The benz is back on the road and a pleasure to drive again!!
