My truck died on a hot noon and needed a jump. I suspect it was the alternator and it output 13.4v after the battery was recharged. Bit of weak.

But the battery drained the next day, so I decided to test the drain source. The total draining amperage is 0.7 amp, and 0.35 of the drain is from F8 the transfer case and emergency fuse.

Not sure if this is related to ESP? I did not use that much and did not notice any thing at all.

Drained and refilled the transmission fluid last month. Did not see any problem so far.

Any idea? Any suggestion to next couple of things to look at?

Thanks in advance.

You have an after market stereo like most of us ,A good freind of mine also had one in his ML and it would drain the battery in a couple of days it was a shocker. Pull the fuse in that and test it, I would say your alternator is ok at 13.4v after a charged battery

Probably not. I removed the radio and still got the drain on F8.

The emergency system power drain could mean your TeleAid module is trying to make a call. Do you have one under the passenger seat?

I should have one - I have seen it when I clean under the passenger seat.

Can I just disconnect the module and check again?

Why not? I don't think it affects anything else. If you're not subscribed, the module has no other use.

Edit: When you disconnect the TeleAid module, you have to bypass it with a fibre-optic coupler (available from MB) because it's on the D2B ring. Breaking the ring will render your CD changer (and anything else on the ring) inoperable.

Did you every find the fix to this? I have the same problem. F8 = large battery drain. W163 2005, seems the transfer case is working fine with the fuse in.
