Hi everyone, I have a challenge with my 2002 C320, The automatic transmission doesn't shift, it stays in the same gear, It was working fine when I got home last night, by this morning I got the problem, I checked the fuses 51, 57 & 58 as shown on the fuse box that has to do with the transmission electronics, however they're fine when tested with a test light.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

I once had a similiar problem where the tranny just would not shift out of first gear. I drove around for a few miles just loudly reving in first gear, pulled the car over, restarted it and it drove just fine. It was the strangest thing. Total mystery as to why it happened. This happened back in July and is yet to give me any problems again since then.

Hopefully it'll be fine the next time you drive her. Hint: maybe try nudging the TouchShift lever to shift it yourself if it happens again. If the problem persists, i hate to inform you but you may be in need of a new tranny. (about $4.7K).

typically the transmission goes into limp mode if a problem occurs with either the electro-hydraulic control unit(shift plate on the valve body) or the ETC(electronic transmission control unit) this will only allow your car to operate in 2nd gear and reverse. sometimes by shutting the engine off and restarting the code becomes stored instead of current and the car will shift fine. with the 5spd transmissions the shift plate is usually the cause as all the speed sensors are integrated into the plate.
