An explanation for this does not appear in the manual, so I am wondering what is the exact function of the center vent dial (the one on the dash right in between the adjustable center vents). It has a blue arrow in the middle.

The 2003 model does not have this feature.

Is it supposed to shunt in outside air or something?

If people don't know what I am talking about, I will post a picture.

Cheers,
B.

I think you might be right... so does that mean when the little blue arrow is showing that the a/c is then switched off?

That was going to be the topic of my next post - "How do you turn off the a/c?". In the 2003 model there is a little button that says AC/off - nothing so obvious in the 2002.

There is some "EC" button or something, which is another widget that I need to figure out. Although that one is probably outlined in the manual.

turn wheel with blue dots on it turns off cold air from the center vent if the heat is on. In the on position the center vent will blow cold air instead of heated air like other vents.

turn wheel on top of the dash turns the top dash vent in the middle on or off.

You guys definitely got me [8]

I also dont know how to swicth off my aircon unless I shut it down and open a window. Also, at night my windshield mists up from the outside. This a common problem on the C. As if the heat in the engine bay is rising up behind the bonnet,

When you say "shut it down", do you mean just turning the fan dial to 0?

I would like to know how to still have the fan going to circulate the air, but with no air conditioning. I didn't have to worry about this during the winter, but it's almost sunroof and windows weather in Ottawa. [8D]

This was the explanation that the previous owner of my car told me. When all the vents are blowing warm air, and I turn that center dial so I see the blue dots, then I get cool air from that vent only. I don't understand the reason to have that, only that it's there.

I think it might have been a design blunder; something Dieter thought was a good idea after ein dutzend biere.

They sobered up in 2003 and got rid of it.
