Greetings to everybody. I am a new member (62 of Pole origin), amateur mechanic, and unfortunately having remote idea of electronics. I own a 2001 ML320 with a Bose radio/navigation system, and with broken CD changer now (known problem – a message “Magazine Empty” even when full of CDs). I’d like to replace the MCS dual DIN radio with a single DIN radio. I bought a pocked (“shell”) from Mercedes to fill the gap below the radio, and using the Crutchfield’s “outfit my car” engine I picked the Pioneer DEH-PG200BT radio. When I called Crutchfield to buy the radio I was told that any aftermarket radio will not work with the proprietary Bose system in my car. I was advised to replace and rewire all speakers before installation of a new radio. Obviously I put my purchase on hold, and I am seeking for a help - is this a correct advise? Many thanks in advance for any suggestion.
