My car: 2001 E55 AMG 155k miles stock

His Car: 2007 Chrysler SRT-8 30k miles
Running track lows of 13.7 @ 103 mph and highs of 14.3 @ 100 mph - short ram intake & sticky street legal tires.

You can see his runs here:

A good friend of mine is convinced he will beat me in a quarter mile drag, so much so that he is putting money up to bet.:argue:

I honestly have considered a lot of factors, between the Las Vegas 95 degree weather and the altitude, previous e55 track times, current state of my vehicle with 155k miles, tires, intakes, bolt on's.

My engine is running great, new motor mounts, lots of power in the throttle, just did full synth oil change recently, its a well maintained vehicle.

I would LOVE everyone's opinion on this and where you think I stand in this race.

Midnight Mayhem will be on the 17th of August, 2012. This is where we will meet to get official track times, and to handle our grudge race.

As of right now, the only thing I think I need to beat him, is 93 octane, and some street slicks. I'm doing the xpipe mod with res del and 2nd cat del, stock muffler, before the race also. Looking to run 13.5 and ill be happy.

Car and Driver had the '07 SRT-8 doing a 1/4 in 13.2. His lower times are probably due to heat/altitude. Your car will be affected by heat/altitude to the same extent. I think C&D only managed a 13.5 out of the E55AMG, but if you've read Derek Spratt's E55 blog, you'll see he managed a 13.3 out of a stock E55 (in the Pacific NW). You'll get some pretty good help from the slicks though. Might be close, but as speed goes up, his 75hp advantage will start to overcome the weight/aerodynamic advantage that the E55 has. I suspect you will pull away quickly at the line and probably be leading at the 1/8 mark, but he will catch and pass you in the 2nd 1/8th.

By all means, make sure you do a throttle reset before the race.

I like this for a lot of reasons. Just the thought of being ahead of him out of the gates , and maybe getting a nice reaction time, is whats going to win this for me.

I've gotten a bit technical to determine where I truly stand and this is what the numbers say, correct me if you notice anything wrong or off by too much

The tires.... Not slicks =/ But CLOSE! Purchased 2 of these for the rear
275/35/18 Nitto NT-05 ( UTQG: 200AAA )

And possibly could you link me to the thread with the throttle reset procedure.. I tried it once a couple weeks ago and ive been driving like a grandma ever since!

Thanks!

P.S. Was considering doing a mandrel pipe intake... but Im guessing I will get little to no gains with just a throatier sound?
