hello everyone, havent been to this forum in a loooonnnngggg time but im back, and am looking at a 01' CLK55. i cant find the forum search button, but was wondering basiclly what to look for on these cars, and the life of the tranny/ what really needs replacing over time. the current car has 68K miles so it shouldnt be too bad, and it doesnt have the GPS system...

thanks

ha ha, ok ok, anyways i did some searches and it seems that this one engine sensor always messes up? emf, efm... some combo of letters like that, but it seems like MB is pretty good with dealing with that under warrenty, and we wont be putting that many miles on the car, also forgot to say the car is going to have its yearly service too b4 we look at it so it should be in tip top shape

SethMac,

The few things you may want to have looked at ar the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF or MAS as they're commonly refered to), the brake sensor, which is under the dash above the brake pedal, the instrument cluster (inspect that there aren't any dead pixes), and I would check out the drive and passenger seat motors and controls, I've heard some people have had problems with those (like myself, but I do a re-sync on the seats and everything works well for a few weeks) :)

Hope that helps
