Hey everybody,
Checked out those 2 tanks in my '01 CL500 and was wondering which is what?
The Upper one is nearly full of green liquid (presumably ABC hydraulic oil) and the bottom, smaller one got reddish, brownish colored fluid.
Also on the dipstick in the smaller one the fluid seems to be waay below minimum.
I suppose it isn't that bad though - the car doesen't report any errors, check lights, visit workshops.

Could you please tell me what the lower one is for?

I would be really grateful for your help. Cheers.

I believe both tanks should contain the ABC (green) oil..Perhaps someone wanted to save money and put regular oil in the power steering oil tank

I'd flush it, just to be safe. It's really supposed to be CHF11S fluid in there.

That's actually one of the first things I tend to do, generally, with any new-to-me car in order to get a good, solid baseline--replace all fluids.
