I have a 2001 c240 6-speed manual. At 58k miles the shift into 2nd gear started to shift hard, even if the car was not running. Now the car won't drive. If in first gear the engine stalls if I try to engage the clutch. Reverse seems not to work, car rolls forward. I was told it's probably my shift linkage bushings ? Does anyone know how to properly take off the floor shift or gear shift mechanism ? I was wondering if I need to drop the transmission a bit to do so or not. I called all my local auto parts stores and no one has the bushings for my car. The dealership said they only sell the entire mechanism, wont sell the parts seperate which cost about $600 parts only. Does anyone know if I could repair this problem if its the bushings or the whole mechanism needs to be replaced ? any input much appreciated. If anyone knows where I could purchase replacment parts that would be great. Thanks!
