Hello,

I need some input.

1. Oil change, the car is over 200K Miles. Which oil should I use? for that mileage. Also how often should I change it.

2. My Turning Signal Light is off. Right mirror and Back left. Any suggestion on where to get the replacement and how to install it.

3. My open hood sensor is always on, it turns red on the dash even when its fully close. Any idea on how to fix this? I have to hit the reset button every time i stop at a light.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to the forum, KrishManohar.

1. In accordance with the Mercedes "approved fluids" specifications in your owner's manual package. If you don't have it, you may be able to download it per the instructions in the W220 S-Class Encyclopedia, located just a few lines above your post.

2. Again, addressed in the W220 S-Class Encyclopedia.

3. Most likely a bad sensor or broken/shorted wire.

I will try to "pay it forward" for the assistance I have recieved from this site...

Decide if you are a DIY person, or want to have info, and let someone else turn the wrenches.

First thing is to add your car year make and model to your member id, so that way correct advice can be given.

Second thing is to review the "Sticky" directly above your post called the "Encyclopedia" which has tons of useful information on this car.

Third thing is to do a FORUM Search for your question, a great answer will pop up. Skylaw recommends you read THIS

1. Oil change, Use the specified oil for your year make and model of car. Here is some previously posted advice from Skylaw, regarding A and B Service. FWIW, my S500 takes 0W-40 Mobil 1, and that's what I run. Here is a link to MB for their recommendations

2. My Turning Signal Light is off. Do you have a malfunction error in the dash heads up display? Here are the factory diagrams linked to from the encyclopedia for replacing the mirror lights. When mine failed, I upgraded to LED. You can find some basic instructions HERE for changing the light bulbs in the trunk. The directions for changing the back bulbs are supposed to be in your owners manual. If you don't have a copy, you can download a .pdf HERE. If you do not use MB original parts for these, you will have a persistent error to the malfunction display, and have to continually reset. I like buying parts in the USA from MB Medford Wholesale parts. They are listed in the vendor list on the site. Quick ship, Jeff and Arch are helpful and courteous, and less $ than local dealer.

3. My open hood sensor is always on, To this I have no answer. I assume there is a switch somewhere, or a cut wire or something. A Star DAS scan of the car will give a repair technician the exact component failure. Perhaps one of the senior members will help you with this. Why don't you do the rest of the items above, and get a scan and reset, and then send a PM to eric242340 about this issue. He may be able to point you to the exact component, or give you some advice.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You are welcome, but remember to do your homework first, and you will get help. Your post will be unanwered if you do not...Good Luck

I don't mind at all. I just use the philosophy that if you give a hungry man a fish, you feed him once; but if you teach him to fish, you feed him for life.

And, as many posts as I have to review daily (including putting new ones into the Encyclopedia), it saves time not to look each item up unless I have to.

But I'm glad you helped. No "bad dog" for you!! :D
